TV Classic (universal mount)
Vintage Growl with ClarityThe
TV Classic captures the vintage twang and growl of a late 1950’s, and
early 1960’s vintage Filter’Tron. The neck pickup is a re-creation of
the original Ray Butts/ Gretsch PAT. APPLIED FOR 1959 design. The bridge
position is compensated with slightly more power, and wider
pole-to-pole spacing to match the wider string spacing at the bridge.
The TV Classic is our most popular pickup. The all-around versatility of
a TV Classic makes this a great choice for rock, blues, rockabilly,
country and more! Bridge: Designed with more power and wider pole-to-pole spacing to balance with the neck pickup.DC Resistance: 4.8K | Inductance: 1.83HNeck: A replica of the 1959 PAT. APPLIED FOR Filter’TronDC Resistance: 4.0K | Inductance: 1.40HTone/Characteristic:Between
a Fender (brighter single coil) & Gibson (darker and thicker)
Classic growl and grind when you dig in. Clean, compressed treble.
Note:
Shipped with 4 conductor wiring – ready for standard 2 conductor
hook-up. Red and green wires are soldered and taped off for standard
wiring - send red and green wires to ground for splitting coils.
Splitting coils is not recommended for the TV Classic due to lower coil
power (but will work). However, it is convenient for custom switching.
Example: where coils from other pickups are combined in series, or
parallel.
I am proud to offer TV Jones pickups to my customers. TV Jones is a true "Boutique" pickup manufacturer known primarily for their painstaking recreation of vintage Gretsch pickups. I have always been a fan of vintage Gretsch guitars and use TV Jones any time a client is looking for a vintage Gretsch sound. These are the finest pickups of their kind and I am privileged to be on the TV Jones team!
TV Classic Plus (Universal mount)
Midrange Attitude Tom's
favorite! Great choice if you desire a bridge pickup with more punch.
This bridge position only pickup is wound with thinner magnet wire,
giving you rounder top-end, and slightly more output. The TV Classic
Plus is like a vintage Filter’Tron pickup but with extra attitude.
Highly recommended for solid body guitars.Bridge: Features
two standard bobbins wound with thinner magnet wire and with wider
pole-to-pole spacing to provide a good balance of output and clarity.DC Resistance: 7.8K | Inductance: 2.83HTone/Characteristic:Similar to a TV Classic™ bridge but with rounder top-end.Likeness/Derived from:TV Classic™ bridge Note: Available in bridge position only.
Note:
Shipped with 4 conductor wiring – ready for standard 2 conductor
hook-up. Red and green wires are soldered and taped off for standard
wiring - send red and green wires to ground for splitting coils. Also
convenient for custom switching. Example: where coils from other pickups
are combined in series, or parallel.
TV Supertron (Soapbar mount) Black
Clear Classic Tone with Smooth SustainThe
TV Jones Super’Tron is a replica of the original early 1960’s solid
steel prototype design. It is very similar to the TV Classic, but with
steel blades instead of pole screws. The blades provide a larger
magnetized surface area, producing greater inductance. The resulting
tone retains the TV Classic clarity, but with a bold and full broadband
punch. The bridge position is great for a thicker, in your face
statement, while the neck position is known to be smooth and clear. Even
great for jazz. With gain, the neck position can really sustain. A
popular combination is a TV Classic Plus bridge, and a Super'Tron neck.Bridge: Blades are milled with a radius for superior string-to-string balance in the weaker bridge position.DC Resistance: 4.80K | Inductance: 2.64HNeck: Made with flat blades to keep the tone clear and warmDC
Resistance: 4.0K | Inductance: 1.8HTone/Characteristic:Warmer
and less aggressive than the mid 1960’s Gretsch Super’Trons (with
laminated blades). Great choice for finger picking, jazz, punk, blues...
This design, in the neck position, was loved by Chet Atkins according
to Paul Yandell.
Note:
Shipped with 4 conductor wiring – ready for standard 2 conductor
hook-up. Red and green wires are soldered and taped off for standard
wiring - send red and green wires to ground for splitting coils.
Splitting coils is not recommended for the Super'Tron due to lower coil
power, but some say it works well due to higher coil inductance because
of the steel blades. It is also convenient for custom switching.
Example: where coils from other pickups are combined in series, or
parallel.
